Founding Director and CEO A/Prof Lea-Ann Kirkham is a finalist in the WA Premier's Science Awards 2026 (Mid-Career Scientist category).

The awards recognise researchers who have made significant contributions to scientific research, innovation and its translation into real-world outcomes.

Lea-Ann's selection as a finalist reflects her work in infectious disease research, with a focus on improving the prevention and treatment of respiratory infections including OM.

This research is closely connected with the work underway at Oto Medicines. The company is developing Spritz-OM, with the aim of providing a practical approach to preventing bacterial respiratory infections.

The development of Spritz-OM builds on years of research and collaboration across science, medicine and product development.

Being named a finalist in the 2026 awards provides an opportunity to recognise not only Lea-Ann's research, but also the broader teams and collaborators involved in translating respiratory infection research into potential solutions for patients.

The WA Premier's Science Awards celebrate scientific achievement across Western Australia and recognise researchers working across a range of disciplines and career stages.
